Experience
I earned my bachelor's degree at Brandeis University, where I graduated magna cum laude with a major in History and a Women's Studies minor. I also did my master's degree at Brandeis, and moved to the University of Illinois to earn my Ph.D. There, I concentrated on U.S. History, Gender and Colonialism, and U.S. Race and Ethnicity. I have been teaching college-level history courses since 2000, and I am truly passionate about helping my students enjoy learning about history by bringing the past to life. History is so much more than memorizing names and dates, and I strive to engage my students with the stories behind history. As a complement to tutoring Government, American, European, and World History, I am able to assist students with English reading, writing, and editing. I believe that writing skills contribute a great deal to mastering historical concepts, as it is vital to be able to effectively convey the information one has learned. I am also able to help students prepare for AP exams in American, European, and World History. In my free time, I enjoy spinning yarn, knitting, reading, and playing the bassoon.
